UAE Leave Salary Calculator
UAE annual leave = 30 days for each year of service (2 days a month between 6 months and 1 year); unused days are paid on your basic salary when you leave (Article 29).
Example: 15 unused days on an AED 9,000 basic salary = 15 × AED 300 = AED 4,500.

How much annual leave do you earn in the UAE?
Article 29 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 gives at least 30 days of paid annual leave for each year of service. Between six months and one year you earn 2 days for each month. Before six months, no annual leave is due. When your job ends, you also earn leave for the part of the last year you worked.
Leave salary or leave encashment: which wage is used?
Two different rules. While you are employed and take your leave, you are paid your full wage for the leave days (Article 29: the worker is entitled to "Remuneration" for the leave period). When you leave the job with days unused, the cash for those days is calculated on your basic salary (Article 29). The calculator shows both lines so you can see the difference.
Cash on leaving: 15 × (9,000 ÷ 30 = 300) = AED 4,500.
The same 15 days taken as leave while employed: 15 × (15,000 ÷ 30 = 500) = AED 7,500.

How we calculate, step by step
- Count your service from your first day to your last day. Under 6 months, no annual leave is due.
- Earned leave: under one full year, 2 days for each completed month from 6 months; from one full year, 30 days for each year of service, the last part-year pro rata (Article 29).
- Unused days = earned days − annual leave days already taken (or the balance you typed).
- Cash on leaving = unused days × basic monthly salary ÷ 30. The same days taken as leave while employed are paid at the full wage ÷ 30.
Is unused leave paid on basic or full salary in the UAE?
On basic salary when the job ends (Article 29). Leave you take while still employed is paid at your full wage. This is why the cash value of unused leave is often lower than people expect.
Can my employer refuse to pay unused leave when I leave?
No. Article 29 says you are entitled to pay for the leave days you did not use when you leave the job, whatever the number of days. It is part of your final settlement, due within 14 days (Article 53).
Can I carry leave over to next year?
Yes, with the employer's approval and under the company rules (Article 29). The employer may not stop you from using leave that has been due for more than two years, unless you choose to carry it over or take cash for it under the company rules.
Do I earn leave in my first six months?
No annual leave is due before six months. From six months to one year you earn 2 days per month. During probation the employer may agree to give you leave from your balance.
Do public holidays inside my leave count as leave days?
Yes. Article 29 says official holidays that fall inside your annual leave count as part of it, unless your contract or company rules give you something better.
